Delphine has a first degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan, as well as a Masters degree in Business Management and Accounting from the University of London (Now recently known as the Imperial College at Wye). She has over 27 years post graduation experience in field work spanning with the International Livestock Centre for Africa(ILCA) now ILRI ( International Livestock Research Institute),in Addis Ababa and at the firm, Deloitte Haskins and Sells, management consultants. Her work with ILCA earned her a Ford Foundation Award to proceed for postgraduate studies in the UK.
She has been the Executive Director of Startrite Mayton & Company for the last 17 years and has worked on various projects involving international, local and private sector clients. She has carried out extensive anthropological studies in collaboration with ILCA and IITA in the rural communities of Oyo North and the Mgbakwu and Okwe communities of Anambra and Imo states of south-eastern Nigeria under the Ford Foundation study on gender roles in household economics. Part of her varied experience in project planning, development and implementation for rural communities was gained while working under the Ford Foundation project for rural communities in the Oyo North and South eastern state communities whilst at ILCA as well as in carrying out rural surveys for various development projects involving various local and international organizations.
At Fuller Centre Foundation, her main assignment involves developing ways of involving community participation in the provision of better housing for the rural population as well as conceptualizing and developing financial management procedures for the project which will bring about empowerment and skills development to the chosen home owners as well as ensuring the project cycle continuity. Although the work with Fuller Centre Foundation is voluntary, she sits on the board of an affiliate, BSD Nigeria Limited which focuses on poverty eradication through housing for the rural communities. She also sits on the board of the Community Development Foundation, a micro- credit NGO with branches in 23 states of the Federation. She also chairs the Finance and General Purpose Committee of that organization.
Mrs Delphine Misan-Arenyeka has also had extensive training in extension education and has in turn facilitated “train the trainers” workshops for various organizations. She also facilitates management training programmes in various capacities.
Delphine has the responsibility of supervising all projects that are carried out by Startrite Mayton and Company Nigeria Limited including the Situation Assessment and Analysis in 2001, the PRA/CPA studies in 2002, 2003 and 2004,Rapid assessments for Avian Influenza, Accelerated Child Survival and Development for UNICEF’s B-Field office, Programme evaluation for the 2002-2007 programme cycle for UNICEF’s B-FO as well as other development agencies projects namely UNDP, EU, NDDC, IFC, World Bank to mention a few. She has also been involved in facilitating seminars and workshops involving UNICEF partners.
She has also been involved in the drafting and preparation of final NEEDS and SEEDS documents for states under the UNDP.
Delphine is the overall projects coordinator in her capacity as the Executive Director of the organization. She sits on the board of various corporate organizations and is a member of various international professional bodies including the Institute of Directors, an Internationally certified Management consultant with a CMC practicing licence.
Delphine is married with two boys.
